Dove Lake Sunrise
Nathan Dukes, 2019
Cradle Mountain National Park, Tasmania Australia

It’s easy to see why this photograph at this location is so well loved by photographers the world over. It seems to represent Tasmania as a whole in one frame: cold weather, rugged peaks and colonial charm.
With cold wet feet, my tripod in the lake and my camera just inches above the water, I was able to capture the boatshed from an imposing angle, bolstering its size compared

to Cradle Mountain and her surrounding peaks.
The cold, calm conditions allowed a thin layer of mist to remain on the water’s surface until the sun breached the ranges left of frame.
Until then, it was a beautiful quiet hour I was fortunate enough to enjoy, and a moment that can be yours to enjoy now too.
