Lofoten Sunset

Nathan Dukes, 2017

Lofoten Islands, Norway

Fujifilm X-T2, 35mm, F4, ISO200, 1/250s

Imagine a trip to the edge of the world.

A string of islands reaching deep into the arctic circle. A time forgotten archipelago in the far reaches of Norway. Each island more imposing and more dramatic than the last.

A single road that snakes from one rock to the next until it just … stops … at the edge of the unknown.

Spiralling peaks siddle the storming seas,

2020 Nathan Dukes

between them there's barely a blade of grass to build a life.

A place where the sun doesn’t set in summer, and doesn’t rise in winter. Of fishermen with weathered faces. Of wild cotton and endless golden sunsets.

Every direction holds a new and inspiring vista. Take ten steps on the left and watch it all change before your eyes. Few escapes existing quite like the Lofoten Islands of Norway.
